Philanthropy

  •           Sigma Phi Epsilon puts philanthropy as one of the cornerstones of our organization. Every year, we host a host an annual Chili Cookoff to raise money for a local charity, participate in numerous other philanthropic activities from organizations around campus, and put in well over a thousand combined community service hours as a chapter.

Sigep has raised and donated over $20,000 dollars to Extra Table, an organization that provides cheap, healthy food to local food pantries and shelters, and the Haven House, an AIDS Services Coalition organization in Hattiesburg, over just the last three years. In addition, we have come in either first or second place in Chi Omega Songfest, Delta Gamma Anchorsplash, and Alpha Delta Pi's accapella competition in the last couple years.

    Chili Cookoff

Chili Cookoff is Sigep's largest philanthropy event with the 2015 year being the 9th annual. Over 25 teams of both campus organizations and local businesses come out to the event located on USM's campus and cook chili to be freely tasted by all, and judged by a select panel of notable judges. 100% of proceeds go to a local charity with 2015's recipient of $9,000 being Extra Table.
